Super Mario World (SNES)

How I would sum this game up:  The best Mario game...Ever???

Nostalgia alert:  I got my SNES for Christmas, this game came with it and in my stocking was TMNT - Turtles in Time and in my brother had Zelda.  More on those two later.  But I tell you that to say this - Super Mario World was the first SNES game I ever played, and it set the bar disgustingly high.  It is one of the game I still play beginning to end about once every other year.  I tried to beat the whole game by moving only by holding duck and jumping.  This game is nearly perfect, but if I could list any complaints it would be lack of the tanooki suit (although I do suppose that leaving it out made Mario 3 that much cooler).

If you haven't played and loved this game, you are not invited to my birthday party.
